Who / What is Funchicken?

Welcome to Funchicken: a creative playground where artists Mark Todd and Esther Pearl Watson experiment with limited edition prints, designer toys, wearables and painting. This is a separate space from their own personal practices. On her own, Esther exhibits her paintings internationally and has published comics for Fantagraphics Books. Mark co-owns and curates for HeyThere Projects, a gallery and gift shop in Joshua Tree, California.  But working together as Funchicken, they combine forces to create a nonsensical, neon-drenched, photocopy-mutated universe where zine culture, 80s nostalgia, and absurdity collide. Mark and Esther are also creators of many zines and books including the well loved Whatcha' Mean, What's A Zine?, a guide to producing zines and mini-comics.

Funchicken exhibits include: Record Store from Outer Space, an interactive project at the Felix Fair in Los Angeles and more recently The Transporter Library at the Wignall Museum at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

Currently, Mark and Esther divide their time between Joshua Tree, Los Angeles and West Texas.
